Continuing to meet the woman behind the scenes: aka Katrina Sutherland! Where would Sutherland Plumbing be without Katrina? Well, let’s see…
Katrina moved to Portland in 1999 to go to radiography school (x-ray). She graduated in 2001 and started working at Legacy Emanuel Hospital. After a couple of years of x-ray work, she applied for a CT (cat scan) position.
Shortly thereafter, Katrina took her board exams and became certified! Katrina worked full-time until March 2013 when she had her first daughter. After Mckenzie was born, Katrina stopped working full-time and took an on-call position at Legacy Emanuel. In December 2014 Katrina had her second daughter, Makena!
These days, Katrina is so busy with Sutherland Plumbing, that if she does pick-up a shift at Legacy Emanuel, it’s usually only on the weekends.
Katrina’s able to do all of this while educating & entertaining three young children: Presley, Mckenzie and Makena!

Katrina’s days consist of making sure all of our vendors are paid on time, obtaining all permits, scheduling all of the correct inspections, making sure all licenses are maintained & up-to-date, balancing the bank, credit & online accounts, maintaining customers’ paperwork and processing all of our own Sutherland Plumbing corporate paperwork.
And yes, Katrina does all of our daily bookkeeping!
But that’s not all…Katrina also oversees purchasing trucks and equipment, the company payroll, all necessary insurances and our merchant service accounts. Not to mention all of the other little things that go into running an office and monetary systems!

Here in the Portland Metro area and across the nation, school is officially back in session! As a family company, we here at Sutherland Plumbingwould like to remind all of our blog readers to please drive safely. Here are a few tips to help keep you, your family, your neighbors and your community safe:
Carefully read and follow all traffic safety signals and signs.
When in a school zone please take extra precaution to closely obey the reduced speed requirements.
When in a school zone, please DO NOT speed-up until you are completely out of the school zone.
DO NOT text, email or instant message under any circumstances while driving. If it’s that important – pullover to a safe place before using your phone.
Even if you’re on a phone call using a hands-free device, please be aware that your attention is still distracted and be extra cautious while using the hands-free device.
This time of year, there are many kids around, even outside of school zones and school hours. Please be careful even while driving outside of school zones and/or school hours.
If in doubt – SLOW DOWN!
Let’s all work together to keep our kids safe. Drive with extra caution and safety this school season!
While we at Sutherland Plumbing take pride in our daily hard work and ability to turn our customers’ unfortunate “problems” into “opportunities for solutions.” We also acknowledge that Plumbing can be beautiful, too…
Co-Owner & Master Plumber Ti Sutherland wrestled these guys outta the water by hand. He saved 4 puppies & 7 kittens who were being viciously attacked & would’ve been fish food if not for Ti’s Bravery!!!
